The dark web is often misunderstood, either as a lawless wasteland or a mysterious tool for absolute anonymity. VeilNet aims to provide clear, practical information about how it works, its risks, and its legitimate uses for those who need privacy or access to uncensored resources.

It is for journalists, researchers, activists, and curious individuals who want to explore safely and responsibly.

Who writes here

The editor, Liam Foster, is a digital privacy advocate based in Bristol with years of hands-on experience navigating and studying the dark web. The small team shares a commitment to accuracy and ethical reporting, avoiding sensationalism or fearmongering.

All contributors test tools and methods themselves before describing them.

How the content is prepared

Each guide or article starts with research from trusted sources, including academic papers, security forums, and firsthand testing. Drafts are reviewed for technical accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legal boundaries in the UK.

Materials are updated when significant changes occur in software, laws, or known threats.

What we do not do

VeilNet does not provide or link to illegal services, marketplaces, or explicit content. It does not endorse or facilitate illicit activities, and it avoids publishing unverified claims or rumours.

The focus remains on education, not exploitation.
